This project was funded by Tiffany & Co. Foundation to the City of Chicago’s Grant Park just South of the Buckingham Fountain. Listerman and Associates working with Hoerr Schaudt Landscape Architects designed fluid, serpentine garden beds that have nearly 7,000 blooming annuals and perennials, shaped evergreens, ornamental trees, cascading vines, and flowering shrubs.
Claus Brothers Landscaping expertly installed the varying serpentine hedge that undulates both in height and width of Buxus x ‘Green Velvet’ from 12″ to 36″. Listerman supplied the 8’w x 6’t and 10′ w x 8′ t Taxus media ‘Densiformis’ and the 12′ and 14′ Thuja occidentalis ‘Smaragd’ Emerald Green Arborvitae to highlight the vertical elements.
Hundreds of Taxus media ‘Fastigiata’ were installed in a double row for the dramatic backdrop hedge. In addition to sourcing all aforementioned material, Listerman & Associates’ in-house logistics team delivered the material to downtown Chicago as a Just-In-Time service, sending the appropriate plants for each phase to meet the demands of the contractor and site limitations.
